Pumped Up Kicks - Foster the People

The old saying goes “looks can be deceiving” but in this case the sounds are deceiving. When I first listened to Pumped Up Kicks I was entranced by it’s upbeat music and heavy bassline which is reminiscent of the summer tunes of The Beach Boys but then I realized that behind the cheery vocals lies a very dark message. It’s funny how one can get so caught up in the melody of summer ecstasy and not notice that the song is about revenge and murder. Nonetheless, this song is amazing, it’s too damn catchy that I can’t stop listening to it.
